An EAN (European Article Number, now called GTIN-13) is a 13-digit product code and the barcode that encodes it. It identifies one product so it can be listed, scanned and tracked anywhere in the world.

**Are these EAN codes accepted on Amazon?**
Yes. They are used every day to list products on Amazon marketplaces in the US, Europe and beyond, as well as on eBay, Walmart, Shopify and Etsy. Each code is unique and has never been used on another product.

Yes. They are genuine ISBN-13 numbers from the U.S. ISBN Agency and work with Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Barnes & Noble Press, Apple Books, Kobo, Lulu, Draft2Digital and offset or local printers. When KDP asks for the imprint, enter Independent Publishing House.

**How many ISBNs do I need?**
One per format and edition. A paperback, a hardcover and an audiobook of the same book are three ISBNs. An ebook sold only on Amazon does not need one (Amazon uses its own ASIN), but most other ebook stores accept or require an ISBN. A revised edition with substantial changes needs a new ISBN; fixing typos does not.

**What exactly do I receive?**
Your 13-digit ISBN and its barcode as PNG, JPG, PDF and TIFF files, delivered by email within minutes and available any time under Downloads in your account. Hand the PDF or TIFF to your cover designer, or place the PNG yourself.

**Who is listed as the publisher, and can I use my own imprint name?**
The ISBN is registered to Independent Publishing House. You are free to put your own name or imprint on the cover and in your marketing. Where a platform requires the imprint to match the ISBN registration, use Independent Publishing House. Only Bowker can register an ISBN under your own company name, at $125 for one.

**Do the ISBNs expire or have renewal fees?**
No. It is a one-time purchase. An ISBN you have not used yet can be assigned to a future title or edition whenever you are ready.

**Is the barcode the right size for my cover?**
Yes. The barcode is supplied at standard book-industry size with the ISBN printed above the bars. Keep it black on a white or light background and do not stretch it in one direction. If you need a specific size or a price add-on, our support team will prepare it for you.

**How fast is delivery?**
Files are generated and emailed automatically as soon as your payment clears, usually within a couple of minutes. Check your spam folder if you do not see them, or download them from your account.
